15 September 2008oh how i wish my son were able to speak those words. today he was diagnosed as having hearing loss. poor kid. he just turned one year old last week. he’s had several double ear infections in the last six months. in the process, we’ve discovered he has certain food and drug allergies. the hearing loss is contributing to minor speech and development delays, which should be easily corrected soon. we’ve elected to do a bilateral myringotomy, a very simple procedure in which a slight incision is made in the eardrum and tubes are inserted. this will relieve pressure and prevent fluid build-up in the middle ear. still, as routine as it is, it’s still minor surgery and he’ll be anesthetized throughout the process. please pray for the little guy. pray for him not to get sick before the surgery, for the medical staff to be sharp, and for a quick recovery. the surgery is in two weeks. my heart goes out to my little man.
