.information war.
13 September 2008i confess. i’m somewhat of a news junkie. i like to be an informed individual, so i have a pretty good handle on many of the latest current events. i’m aware of how the last historic 16 months and especially the last two weeks have shaped our current political situation. though i don’t memorize stats, i’m usually pretty familiar with the next gator football matchup and have followed some gator basketball recruiting. other interests include science and technology, health and fitness, the bible and aplogetics, travel, alternative vs. conventional medicine, movies, and lately gastronomy. so i was pretty convicted after reading & meditating on the other day’s slice (from ravi zacharias). here’s the teaser…
“The world isn’t run by weapons anymore, or energy, or money. It’s run by little ones and zeros, little bits of data. It’s all just electrons…. There’s a war out there… and it’s not about who’s got the most bullets. It’s about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think, it’s all about information. The world is run by information.”
there’s much more to read, so check it out here if you want. how easy it is to be distracted by all the information (and misinformation) around us. there is so much information out there and as a student of the the world, i am fascinated by all that is around us and all that we do (science and culture). but i realize i lose focus when i am spending more time learning about the latest polling data or even reading the bible for entertainment. the truth is found in the Word, and that’s where my energy should be directed.
