.local radio.

4 September 2008

so there was an accident on the way to work this morning and i decided to call the local radio station so that they can give a traffic report to all their listeners.  traffic was pretty backed up, so i knew that taking an alternate route would be better for many other people.  i was also curious about if and how quickly they would put it on the air.  i was impressed . . . within two minutes, they aired the traffic report.  i must admit, i really enjoy the local talk radio station.  i’ve called them a number of times to offer scientific backing of creationism, to revel in gator championships, to wish my wife a happy anniversary, and a few other times.  it’s nice having a small town (compared to my hometown of atlanta) local radio station where you don’t need to wait hours to get a 15 second comment on air.

and speaking of traffic accidents, i have a good habit that my mom taught me.  whenever i see an ambulance, fire truck, or police car zipping through the streets, i am sure to pray for that situation.  God knows the details, but every prayer offered up in faith is worthwhile.  it’s an interesting instinct now that as soon as i hear sirens, i stop thinking about whatever i was thinking about and start praying.  thanks mom!

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26
