.husbands & wives.
26 August 2008this weekend i officiated over two very special weddings. officiating weddings is one of my favorite honors and privileges as a minister. lots of detail (’meticulous’ is my middle name!) go into such a special and momentous occasion. the first wedding was that of dan and sereen on saturday. the ceremony and reception were both very elegant, and if you know sereen, you wouldn’t expect anything less. the reception was at this trendy place downtown called tapas 12. i had never been there before, but the food was so good i am sure i’ll visit it again soon. the rain from tropical storm fay didn’t affect the pictures, as jemma was able to get some great pics outside and i can’t wait to see the final product! i’m sure the honeymooners are having a fabulatastic time at their beautiful resort in costa rica.
the second wedding was my sister’s in atlanta on sunday. it was so special to be a part of their wedding. the ceremony was outside, and the rain bands from the storm (which followed us from gainesville) put a big question mark on the whole idea of having it outdoors. God came through, and the sun was out a bit during the ceremony. After the last guests left the ceremonial area, it started raining again! timing was perfect! the reception was a blast, and the dj was one of the best i’ve ever experienced. the weekend was extra significant as my wife and kids were able to meet one of my uncles and my grandmother who came from the philippines. my grandmother celebrated her 88th birthday on my sister’s wedding day! it was also great to see many family friends that i hadn’t seen in so long. noor and tess are now enjoying their honeymoon in hawaii. i got a text message yesterday indicating that they landed safely in honolulu! yay!
for obvious reasons, i couldn’t get this song out of my head this weekend. “it’s like rain on your wedding day…it’s a free ride when you’ve already paid…it’s the good advice that you just didn’t take…who would’ve thought… it figures…” thanks alanis.
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
